Fay Groves Hedrick (1929-2012)
Fay Groves Hedrick of Lubbock, formerly of Brownfield, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 83. She was born September 14, 1929. She graduated from Lubbock High School, attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Austin College in 1951. On July 20, 1951, Fay married the love of her life, Ralph Hedrick, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. Before spending the last six years in Lubbock, Fay was a resident for over 40 years in Brownfield and spent 20 years during the summer months in Rociada, New Mexico. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownfield and served as a music teacher and choral teacher.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, John Richard Hedrick and wife Constance of Austin and Thomas Groves Hedrick of Lubbock; and her pride and joy, Evan, her grandson.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents, R. T. and Esther Burney Groves, and husband, Ralph, after 54 years of marriage.
The family received friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. A memorial service will be held at a later date in February.
