Authorities on Friday arrested a Brownfield man who allegedly assaulted a teenage Sundown girl in June.
Aaron Foshee, 18, was arrested at a residence in the 600 block of Tahoka Road by Terry County deputies.
He was arraigned for aggravated sexual assault. Bond was set at $20,000. Foshee was later released after posting bail.
The victim was under the age of 14 at the time of the alleged assault, said Hockley County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Cassondra Smith.
The alleged sexual assault occurred in a vehicle on Mineral Road east of Sundown.
He was arrested after another man informed investigators about the incident.
Smith noted that any sexual act with a victim who is under the age of 14 is subject to prosecution, even if the act is consensual.
“Young people need to make themselves aware of state laws,” she said.
Foshee was a transfer student who had attended Sundown High School before moving back to Brownfield.
