Winnie Murphy, 90, of Lubbock passed away on Sunday April, 14, 2013 at her residence. Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:00am at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Interment will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas
Winnie was born on August 6, 1922 to Elijah and Lillie Peek in Goree, Knox County, Texas. Winnie attended school in Brownfield. She married the love of her life, D.C. Murphy, October 24, 1940.
Winnie was a devoted wife and loving mother to her husband, D.C. and her children Jim and Melba. She was a true example of a homemaker and cared for her family with selfless energy. Her passion for gardening was evident in the large vegetable gardens she raised. Winnie was known for her love for others and her willing heart to help anyone at any time. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, and cheered them on with enthusiasm.
Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son.
Left to cherish Winnie’s memory are, her daughter Melba Estill and husband Buster; granddaughter Angela Spivey and husband Lydell, grandsons, Curtis Estill and wife Paula, Sean Murphy and Jacque Murphy; great-grandchildren, Zane Spivey, Colton, Caden, and Carter Estill, Adrian and Savana Murphy.
