New Home win secures Broncos’ playoffs spot

A longtime February tradition at Meadow has not been broken - the Broncos are in the playoffs.

What was long assumed this season is now official, following the Broncos’ 44-38 road victory Tuesday night in New Home.

The Lady Broncos wrapped up their season with a 33-58 loss to the Lady Leopards, but the News was unable to obtain more information about that game as of press time.

The Broncos led 21-11 at the end of the first quarter and 30-19 at halftime, but didn’t play to their full ability the rest of the game, according to Head Coach Kyle Johnson.

"The first half I felt we played well and were pretty focused,” he said. "The second half we came out with no energy and almost allowed New Home to catch us.”

Leading scorers were Mason Davila with 11 and Zach England with 10.

After wrapping up their regular season Friday in Southland, the Broncos’ next step will be a bi-district match the following week. For a schedule of that game, keep checking the News.
