    Members of the Texas South Plains Honor Flight organization are searching the region for veterans who will volunteer to take to the skies and drop in for an all-expenses paid trip to visit Washington D.C. where they can take some time and honor other fellow veterans for their service.

    Not many can call themselves and Eagle Scout, but Saturday local resident, Isaiah Bautista, 18, will be able to do just that. Bautista will be honored noon Saturday at the Living Water Foursquare Church, 601 Lubbock Ed., and will be celebrated for his extensive work to earn the highest rank attainable in the scouting program.

    The Brownfield Independent School District Board met Tuesday evening to announce not only the Employee and Student of the Month, but to also discuss other items such as the results from the Texas Education Agency as well as calling for an election for three board positions.

    One local resident Matthew Miranda, 30, was arrested recently for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle after the owner of the vehicle woke up Christmas morning to find her car had been stolen.

  • ‘Cats and Lady ‘Cats give back to community

    The Wellman-Union ‘Cats and Lady ‘Cats with representatives from the Terry County Goodfellows organization.  Members of the Wellman-Union basketball teams worked together to raise $2,400 for three Terry County families as well as funds to purchase toys for the Goodfellows organization. Pictured is Wellman-Union’s donation of about $700 worth of toys for Goodfellows. Wellman-Union also used the funds to purchase 3 $100 United Supermarket gift cards for the families.  One of the families that received gifts from Wellman-Union was hit by a family tragedy recently.  That family received $600 worth of gifts to assist them with Christmas.
