It was a cool, wet night in Denver City Friday, but the Brownfield Cubs turned up the heat on their longtime rival Mustangs, coming away with a convincing win to open the District schedule.

The Brownfield Cubs remain undefeated after four weeks of football, but Friday night’s contest against the Levelland Lobos wasn’t the resounding win local fans wanted to see.

The initial delay was called at 9:55 p.m. with 3:13 remaining in the third quarter and the game tied 42-all.
