The Wellman-Union Lady ‘Cats got close to the Borden County Lady Coyotes, but weren’t able to come away with a win Tuesday night in Coyote country.
The first quarter belonged to the Lady Coyotes who came away with nine points compared to Wellman-Union’s five.  The second quarter was a little closer for W-U as they were able to put 11 on the board compared to Borden County’s nine
The third quarter belonged solely to the Lady Coyotes who walked away with 21 points for the frame and W-U with six.  The final frame did belong to the Lady ‘Cats, but not enough to pull away with a win. The score for the fourth quarter was 17 for W-U and 12 for the Lady Coyotes.
The leading scorer for the evening was Kayleigh Forbes with 10 points.  
“We played hard until the thrid quarter,” Wellman-Union girls basketball coach Todd Ellis said. “We couldn’t handle their press and they scored 21 to our six points.  We have to learn how to handle pressure.
The Wellman-Union girls will face off against Loop Friday night in the Wellman-Union gymnasium.
