Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

A traffic stop conducted by the Brownfield Police Department for a routine infraction Wednesday morning resulted in two felony drug arrests.
Traci Herrera, 46, and Roby Kelton, 52, were pulled over by a Brownfield police officer at about 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday near the 100 block of Old Lamesa Road while driving a 1992 Jeep Cherokee. According to the report, the driver of the vehicle failed to signal on a turn and the officer pulled over the vehicle.
Shortly after the stop, Herrera was arrested for third-degree felony possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram PG 1 in a drug free zone as well as a Class A misdemeanor possession of Marijuana less than two ounces in a drug free zone.
Kelton was arrested for third-degree felony possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram PG 1 in a drug free zone.
Bond for Herrera was set at $14,500 for both charges and Kelton’s bond was set at $10,000.
As of news time, both individuals were still being held in the Terry County Law Enforcement Center.
