Mrs. E.H. Margie Crossland has announced her retirement as Executive Director of the Terry County Heritage Museum.
The announcement was made by Crossland at the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Terry County Heritage Museum Board of Directors.
Crossland became Executive Director of the TCHM in 2002 after retiring from a 36-year banking career with the then-Brownfield Sate Bank. She is also the owner of the York Trailer Park in Brownfield. The York Trailer Park has been in Brownfield for over 30 years.
During Crossland’s tenure, the TCHM has become part of the Texas Quilt Trail and the Quanah Parker Trail (a soon-to-be-competed project of the Texas Historical Commission). She has welcomed visitors to the TCHM from many states and from such foreign countries as Canada, France, Egypt, Great Britain, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand among others.
At this same TCHM board meeting, it was also announced that the Motivation, Education and Training Inc. (MET) contract with the TCHM for the services of TCHM Associate Fredrick Jackson will expire Friday, May 2 at the end of that scheduled work day.
Jackson has served at the TCHM during variations of this contract since May 2010. He has been TCHM tour guide and successfully curated and or coordinated several TCHM exhibits/shows during that time. At this same meeting, Jackson was also elected to fill a TCHM board vacancy effective May 6.
Further details concerning these two vacancies will be soon forthcoming from TCHM Board leadership.
