Police logs: one sent to hospital after accidental firearm discharge

One local resident was left injured after an accidental firearm discharge occurred while inspecting a handgun.
At about 7:28 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 26, police were dispatched to Brownfield Regional Medical after it was reported that a 19-year-old female had sustained an injury that appeared to be a gunshot wound to the left foot.
After an inquiry, it was found that the female was injured after her boyfriend, a 19-year-old male, was inspecting his 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun when the gun accidentally discharged. No charges were filed.
