The clouds parted and the sun broke through Monday as many local Terry County residents stood at the Terry County Courthouse to celebrate a wreath-laying Memorial Day  ceremony and to thank those local vets who have given so much for our freedom.
Brownfield City Council Member Geronimo M. Gonzales (District 2) began the assembly by requesting both local veterans and members of law enforcement stand front and center as two local vets raised the American flag.
Shortly thereafter the Brownfield Police Department’s Honor Guard presented a gun salute in honor of the occasion.
Both Gonzales and Vietnam Vet Louis Lira rested the wreath on the Veteran’s Memorial located at the courthouse.  The ceremony was in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.
