Both the Meadow Broncos and the Lady Broncos made a solid
showing on the Southland hardwood Tuesday night, the Lady Broncos winning 42-19
and the Meadow boys varsity also winning 74-37.
The Southland Lady Eagles laid it all on the line, but even
a home court advantage couldn’t stop the Lady Eagles Tuesday night. The first quarter was a strong show for the
Lady Broncos who came out of the gate on top with 15 points to Southland’s two points.
The second frame was all Lady Broncos as they again dominated the frame with 14
to Southland’s two points. The third
quarter was a little closer, but too little too late for the Lady Eagles who
scored eight against Meadow’s nine. The fourth
and final quarter was where the Lady Eagles soared, but not enough to pull out
a victory. The Lady Eagles scored seven
in the final quarter compared to Meadow’s four.
Coach Johnson’s Broncos also made a strong showing in the
first frame, besting the Eagles with 21 points compared to Southland’s
nine. Domination was the word of the
night for the Broncos who once again stepped all over the Southland Eagles in
the second with 23 point compared to Southland’s 11. The third frame wasn’t much better for Southland
who only landed six on the board for the quarter compared to the Broncos who
came away with 16. The final frame of
the night was close for Southland, but not enough to walk away with a win. The final frame landed Southland on the board
with 12 and Meadow with 15.
The leading lady for the evening was Carla Rodriguez who put
12 on the board, all three-point shots.
The leading Broncos were Mason Davila with 18, Brandon Flores with 14,
Tyler Harrison and Adrian Flores both with 10.
The Meadow basketball program will get a break on Friday
night, but will be back on Tuesday, Jan. 21 to face the only team to beat the Broncos
this season in district, Petersburg.
Meadow will play on their own home court.
