Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent Mary Collier painting and piecing together two new quilt blocks for the Terry County Quilt Trail. Two more were commissioned recently to honor two Terry County sisters who recently passed. Both Irene Rieck and Beth Geron are being honored for their service to the community with the blocks. Rieck will be remembered with a block fashioned as a schoolhouse and is scheduled to be placed close to the west entrance of Oak Grove Elementary. Geron’s block will be fashioned as a windmill and will be set in Hamilton Park.
The quilt block dedication ceremony is slated to begin 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9. The dedication will begin at Hamilton Park and then will continue at Oak Grove.
An additional event honoring Rieck, who was an avid quilter, will be an exhibition of about 30 of her quilts scheduled to begin 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Terry County Senior Community Center.
